Who we are

The Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) is the data controller for information collected on this events platform. You can contact us at events@kmfri.go.ke.

What we collect

When you register for an event we collect the details you provide: name, email address, phone number, organisation, job title, country and, where relevant to the event, accessibility or dietary requirements and answers to event-specific questions. We also record the date and time of your registration and technical information such as your IP address to protect the platform from abuse.

Why we use it

• To process your registration, issue your ticket and check you in at the event.
• To send you essential communications about the event you registered for, such as confirmations, payment instructions, reminders and changes.
• To produce anonymised participation statistics that help us plan future events.
• Where you have opted in, to tell you about future KMFRI events.

Legal basis

We process your data in line with the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya, on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interest in organising the event you have chosen to attend.

Sharing

Attendee lists are only accessible to authorised KMFRI staff. We do not sell personal data. Where an event is co-hosted with a partner organisation, we will tell you at registration if participant information is shared with that partner.

Retention

Registration records are kept for the period required for event administration, financial audit and reporting, after which they are anonymised or deleted.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and withdraw consent to future communications at any time, by contacting events@kmfri.go.ke. You may cancel your registration from your personal registration page.

Cookies

The public site uses only a session cookie needed for security (form protection). No advertising or tracking cookies are set by KMFRI.
